House Committee Releases Report on Job-Killing Regulations

GOVERNMENT WASTE
Citing regulations as a key contributor to a lack of job growth, new House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Cali.) has made eliminating inefficient, duplicative and harmful regulations his number one goal.

In December he put out a call to Associations and the Business Community to highlight inefficient, duplicative and harmful regulations that were impeding their member business ability to grow jobs.

A preliminary report cites the construction and manufacturing industries as being the most impacted by these regulations. The report basically reads as IEC 2011 Legislative Priorities, citing the following regulations, among a long list, as being major road blocks to job creation:
  • Project Labor Agreements;
  • 3% Withholding on government contracts (scheduled to go into effect in 2012);
  • OSHA (Injury and Illness Prevention Program, Noise Standard and 300 Log);
  • EPA proposed Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting Program;
  • IRS 1099 reporting requirements;
  • Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (health care reform law);
