House Passes Legislation to Repeal the 3 Percent Withholding Tax

NJECPAC applauds the U.S. House of Representatives passage of a measure that would repeal the 3 percent withholding tax. The legislation would eliminate the 3 percent withholding tax requirement for work performed on Government Projects.

The U.S. House of Representatives today passed by the measure by a bipartisan vote of 405-16. The measure would repeal the requirement for federal, state and local governments to withhold 3 percent of payments to government contractors starting in 2013.

The measure now moves on to the Senate, where they continue to debate how to offset the $11 billion that the repeal would cost the Treasury in forgone revenue over 10 years. 

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business groups have said that the withholding requirement is too onerous and that its repeal is one of the few areas of agreement between President Barack Obama and congressional Republicans.

"I am pleased to see that the House had the wherewithal to finally support a measure that we have been asking them to pass for a number of years" said NJECPAC Chairman Joe Coviello.

"The legislation passed by the House proves that our persistence and time spent in Washington each year at the IEC National Legislative Conference is time well spent. When passed by the Senate the repeal of this burdensome measure will benefit every Contractor" said NJECPAC Board of Governor member Bruce Kohan.

Obama's Epic Iraq Failure

What has not been reported by the MSM is that Obama wanted to keep troops in Iraq beyond the end of the year. What you also did not hear is the end of the year 2011 deadline was negotiated by President George W. Bush.

The Bush deadline was dismissed and bashed by the Mainstream Media when it was announced in 2008. Now Obama is held up as some sort of a Hero complete with chills running up Chris Mathews leg, Of course there is also no mention that it is the Bush plan that he is following. 

Obama and and Democrats are always campaigning, they campaign 24/7, yet Obama's base has frayed, and Independents have abandoned him. So for the Obama Administration what better time to steal credit for getting troops out of Iraq then the present. Oh Yeah! per the original Bush timeline. 

However, the Heritage Foundation reports, Obama was in negotiations with the Iraqis up until last week to keep troops in Iraq beyond 2011. The only reason he is pulling troops out at the end of the year is in another epic failure, his administration was unable to negotiate immunity for our troops that were to stay behind to support Iraqi's in counter-terrorism, air support, intelligence gathering, logistics, and training. Kline Introduces Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act

House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN) introduced the Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act to help prevent the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from implementing sweeping changes to our workplaces.

In recent months, the NLRB has quietly advanced an activist agenda that empowers unions to manipulate the workforce for their own gain while restricting an employer’s right to communicate with their employees and crippling an employee’s ability to make a fully informed decision. The Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act will force the NLRB to change course and reaffirm the protections workers and employers have received for decades.

“There is no doubt the board’s radical actions will wreak havoc on businesses, and in turn, our economy,” Chairman Kline said. “Employers will be forced to dedicate their limited resources to managing labor relations instead of expanding operations and hiring new workers. Read More.

NLRB Delays Pro Union Posting Requirement

In response to the lawsuits filed by the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW), NAM, NFIB and the US Chamber of Commerce the NLRB has announced that they are delaying the effective date of their notice posting requirement from November 14, 2011 to a new effective date of January 31, 2012.   

 

This will allow the lawsuit to resolve itself prior to this requirement going into effect.

Hopefully the lawsuit will be successful, if it is not employers would be required to post the NLRB notice beginning January 31, 2012.  The NLRB poster can be viewed at: www.NLRB.gov/poster

Obama On The Blame Tour Blames Everyone......Even YOU!!

Obama takes aim at Republicans as he begins his three-day tour of the West Coast, blaming the GOP for 'constant push-back' against reform and saying their vision would 'cripple America.' As if his policies have not already done just that. More

Obama completed an “It’s All Your Fault” campaign tour last week scolding crowds in New York, Ohio, Washington, DC and people on the West Bank and in Israel for not doing their jobs.

It seems that citizens around the world are screwing up what otherwise would have been a fun-filled four years of taxpayers’ subsidized vacations for Barry and Michelle. 

“[I]f you love me, you've got to help me pass this bill," said Obama two weeks ago as he kicked off the desperation reelection tour. He was scolding a crowd in North Carolina about doing a homework assignment for him involving lobbying for his new tax increase.

Congress stopped listening to him last November as he led the Democrats to electoral defeat during the “It’s All the Tea Party’s Fault” tour. His last budget proposal which was similar to what he is currently proposing to create jobs went down in flames in the Senate 97 to Zero, leading in part a new nick name 'President Zero'. More

Deadline Fast Approaching To Post Your Right To Organize Poster

Totally ignoring the tens of thousands of objections On August 25, 2011, Obama's National Labor Relations Board issued a final rule that requires employers to tell employees about their rights to organize a union under the National Labor Relations Act. The rule and the notification requirement become effective on Monday, November 14, 2011.

All Employers will be required to post the NLRB's new employee rights notice where they typically post other workplace legal notices. Employers who customarily post notices to employees about personnel rules or policies on an internet or intranet site will have to post the NLRB's notice on those sites.

CDW Calls on Senate to Immediately Pass the “Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act”

Coalition for a Democratic Workplace Chairman Geoffrey Burr issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2587, the Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act sponsored by Rep. Tim Scott, by a bipartisan vote of 238 to 186:

“Job creators across the nation are thanking the House of Representatives for taking the first step toward protecting employers and employees from a rogue National Labor Relations Board. The NLRB continues to overstep its authority, kill jobs and threaten our economy. The Boeing case, where the Board is attempting dictate where a company can create jobs, is a prime example. We have a great deal of gratitude for the leadership shown by Rep. Scott (R-SC), Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), and Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Rep. Can Scandals Lead To Obama's Downfall?

It is amazing the silence from the Main Stream Media concerning 'Obama's Solyndra Scandal' not to mention the runners up, two more green energy companies and two other companies that also got fast tracked stimulus money and are bankrupt.

 
It has now come out  via leaked emails that the White House knew that Solyndra would run out of the taxpayers money that the Administration loaned them by September of 2011. Predicting correctly when a company that the Administration loaned half a billion dollars of taxpayer money would burn through that money is not exactly something they can hang their hats on.
 
A former Solyndra employee went on air essentially blowing the whistle on the whole deal. This is what she had to say: “While we were out there, while we were building it – cause it is a half a billion dollar plant – everyone already knew that China had developed a more inexpensive way to manufacture these solar panels. Everyone knew that the plant wouldn't work. But they still did it. They still built it. ” She then emphasized that she isn't even that high on the totem pole and she knew this stuff. So there’s no doubt in her mind that Obama and the White House knew that it wasn't feasible.

Is the Administration worried about the loss of half a billion dollars of Taxpayer money? Apparently not, in a leaked email a White House Official makes it clear that they are more worried about how the scandal will effect Obama's reelection bid in 2012.

The FBI raid on Solyndra and the seizure of their records can only be seen as a crack in the Obama administration’s stranglehold on government agencies. The silence from Attorney General Eric Holder if deafening.

And lets not forget 'Operation Fast And Furious' that placed guns in the hands of members of a drug cartel in Mexico resulting in the death of US border agents. More

Imagine the relentless badgering and calls for his resignation from the so called Main Stream Media and virtually every Democrat including Obama if it was George W. Bush that was responsible for any one of these things let alone all of them.

House Vote To Restrict NLRB Scheduled Today

"I'm mad as hell," South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham told reporters on Capital Hill on Wednesday.

A day ahead of a House vote on a bill stopping the National Labor Relations Board from blocking Boeing's plan to open a new production facility in South Carolina, a group of Republican senators blasted the NLRB for being a rogue agency.

"This is a frivolous complaint beyond imagination,” Graham said. “This is using the law for political purposes, and I really do resent that the idea that we are not going to fight back. Sen. Reid, help us out here."

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has given no indication he intends to take up a companion bill in the Senate.  Read More
